Nominated For Seven Oscars Including Best Picture, 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' Releases Across UAE Cinemas On 22nd February 2018

The eagerly anticipated ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ is set to release across cinemas in the UAE on the 22nd February 2018.  The darkly comedic drama from Academy Award® winner Martin McDonagh has received heavy acclaim with a host of accolades to its name, including seven nominations at the 90th Academy Awards.

The Oscar’s front runner follows Mildred Hayes (Academy Award® winner Frances McDormand) who makes a bold move after months have passed without a culprit in her daughter’s murder case. She commissions three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby (Academy Award® nominee Woody Harrelson), the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother’s boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.

“There’s something hopeful about the rage of Mildred’s character, and of single mindedness and decency of Willoughby’s character.  I hope they’ll be moved and amused in places, and angry in places and I think that I hope they’re just told a great and slightly different story,” comments Writer and Director - Martin McDonagh.

“I wrote Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri for Frances (McDormand). There wasn’t any actress around who I thought had all of the elements that Mildred needed.  She had to be a great actress and someone who’s in touch with a kind of working class sensibility. Frances brought to the role of Mildred– truth and anger and passion, integrity and honesty,” continues Martin McDonagh.

“One of the great things about Martin's writing is that you get inside these characters and you really start to care about them. At the end of the film, you feel involved and wish the story would go on. This is a story that's going to stay with you,” said Woody Harrelson.

At the 75th Golden Globe Awards, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actress – Drama (McDormand), Best Supporting Actor (Rockwell), and Best Screenplay, and was nominated for Best Director and Best Original Score. At the 71st British Academy Film Awards, it received nine nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress in a Leading Role (McDormand), and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for both Rockwell and Harrelson. It was nominated for four awards at the 24th Screen Actors Guild Awards, winning three, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

At the 90th Academy Awards it received seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Frances McDormand, Best Original Screenplay for Martin McDonagh and two Best Supporting Actor nominations for both Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson.

It was named one of the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute. At the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, the film won its top prize, the People's Choice Award. At the 2017 San Sebastián International Film Festival, it won the Audience Award.

“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is a mix of comedy and drama and I hope audiences will be entertained, that they will laugh and cry,” said Sam Rockwell. Audiences in the UAE can see
